An evaluation of the Itakpe iron ore tailings (IOT) for concrete production has been carried out using the material to replacesand and cement, in proportions of 5 % up to 30 %, and curing for periods 90 days in water. Characterization of the material showed that it has pozzolanic properties, and can be used as a retarder for hot-weather concreting.

Nov 10, 2020· The addition of iron ore tailingsenhances the compressive strength and impermeability of UHPC mortars due to the filling effect of IOT and the pozzolanic reaction of part of the finer IOT when the substitution rate is no more than 40%. The replacement ratio of 40% shows the best results, with low permeability and the maximum compressive strength.
